The UDPC
The Underage Drinking Prevention Collaborative (UDPC) is a subcommittee of the Community Prevention Coalition of Pima County, the substance misuse prevention department of Portable Practical Educational Preparation (PPEP), Inc. a 501c3 organization based in Tucson, Arizona.
The UDPC is a community-based collaboration to prevent underage drinking through environmental strategies including policy change and community education and awareness strategies.
The Social Host Ordinance
Among its many achievements, the UDPC was responsible for assisting in the enactment of social host ordinances in the City of Tucson and Pima County.
The social host ordinances make it illegal for anyone 18 years or older to allow underage drinking at a place they own or rent, such as an apartment or hotel.
Adults who host underage drinking parties could be charged with a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail, and up to $2,500 in fines.
